Couldn't a writer omit all vowels intentionally, but still create a readable piece?

Well it is said that as long as the first and last letter are in the proper order, the mind can actually read the word. However if I opened a book and you had omitted the vowels, Lynne Truss and I would hunt you down like a dog and shoot you. Pax-C
