How did Muhammad recite about bible-related stuff e.g. the prophets, when Jews/Christians weren't in Mecca?

The facts are that Mecca was seperate from Jews/Christians/non-polytheists so all they knew was the culture of polytheism, and many were illiterate and poor. So how the hell did Muhammad say all those things?
