What is the line that seperates the rich and poverty stricken areas of the world?

i'm not talking about the equator, i'm talking about that squiggly line that seperates the northern and southern hemispheres, the more poverty stricken countries (apart from New Zealand and Australia) are in the southern hemisphere and the richer in the northern hemisphere
